Clayton was born on December 27, 1949, in Hartland, the son of Earl and Ada (Rumery) Bryant. He grew up on a dairy farm with his family and enjoyed being surrounded by animals and working in the woods. He is survived by his mother, Ada Bryant of Pittsfield; his children, Earl Bryant of Pittsfield, Melissa McDougal and husband Robert of Hartland, Dana Bessey and wife Soumia Tber of Augusta, Donald Driver of Augusta and Thelma Pike and husband Neil of Canaan; grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Iman, William, Gabrielle, Abigail, Tabitha, Kristy and Daniel; sister Earlene Robertson of Pittsfield; nephew, Norman Robertson and wife, Lisa of Pittsfield; and two special friends, Tia and Lisa. He was predeceased by his wife, Wilma Bryant and his father, Earl Bryant. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Maloon Cemetery, Grant Road, in St. Albans.
