Obituary:
Palmyra-Pauline R. Porter, 87, died peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2012, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield.

She was born in Hartland, Maine, on June 7, 1924, the daughter of Vernon and Ruth (Morse) Webber. She graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1942. Polly worked at the Lancey House, Humphrey’s Pharmacy, Berry’s Pharmacy and The Corner Cupboard.

Over the many years of her life, she enjoyed travel, be it flying to visit family, riding the train depot around central Maine or just walking around Pittsfield, enjoying the outdoors. She also loved gardening, camping with family, the Red Sox, NASCAR, mini-golfing, playing many games, reading (she always had a book) birds and nature watching, and writing letters to her beloved grandson, Jason.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Knowles and husband Ramon of Palmyra and Cindy Taylor and companion Craig Hunt of Pittsfield; grandchildren, Jason Taylor of Kittery, Franklin Maker and wife Kelly of Palmyra, Wendy Dolley and husband Thomas of Bangor and Sharon Plourde and husband Randy of Palmyra, Francis Lynn Knowles of Rhode Island and Scott Knowles of Rhode Island; great grandchildren, Paige, Chad, Mindy, Heather, Lee, Brandy and Dylan; many great great grandchildren; niece, Kathleen Derrick and husband David of Huntsville, Alabama; and nephew, Arthur Dewey Jr and wife, Marie of Pittsfield.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Francis Burpee; her second husband, Arthur Knowles; her third husband, Merle Sinclair; her fourth husband, Keith Porter, a son, Francis Knowles; her siblings, Beverly Dewey, Gilbert Webber and Roland Webber.

Graveside services will be private at the Village Cemetery, in Pittsfield.
