Obituary:
Pittsfield -Carrie A. Lawrence, 100, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 6, 2012, in Pittsfield.

She was born on April 22, 1912, in Unity, the daughter of the late Albert and Ellen (Reynolds) Pomeroy. In 1918, she moved to Pittsfield with her family and attended Pittsfield schools.

Carrie was employed for several years at Northeast Shoe in Pittsfield and at the Standard Shoe Company in Skowhegan. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, knitting, ceramics and painting her creations and all kinds of hand work. She adored her Siamese cats, wild birds and flowers. She loved her family. She had a goal to reach 100 years old and she achieved it by celebrating at her favorite restaurant, Angler's in Newport, with family and friends. She will be remembered for her loving compassion for her family and always having a smile.

She was a member of the Universalist Church in Pittsfield, the Garden Club, the Senior Citizen’s Club, the Rebekah’s, serving as a Past Noble Grand and she was also a former member of the Pittsfield Grange.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Knowlton of Freedom; sons, Dan Lawrence and wife Joyce of Hopewell, Virginia and John Lawrence of Reno, Nevada; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cathy Lawrence; son-in-law, Ed Sanborn; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was predeceased by her brothers; Dana, Myron and Roland Pomeroy; her children, G. Roger Lawrence, Allen L. Lawrence and Janice C. Sanborn; grandchildren, Larry Lawrence and Gary Lawrence; and son-in-law, Bob Knowlton.

We would love to thank Pittsfield Rehab and Nursing for the wonderful care they had provided to Carrie over the past few years and for caring for her family that came to sit by her side.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, in Pittsfield, with the Rev. Margaret Beckman officiating. A celebration of her life will follow at the Universalist Church, 112 Easy Street, in Pittsfield. We would love to hear any memories and stories that we have forgotten with time.
