Obituary:Hartland-Rhonda L. Wentworth, 52, died peacefully after a courageous battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 2, in Hartland. She is now at peace with her loving husband in heaven.
She was born on November 14, 1959, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Edison and Frances (Adams) Edell. She graduated from Skowhegan Area High School and married the love of her life, Gary Wentworth. They settled in Hartland and together they raised their family.
Rhonda worked for several years at Edwards, General Electric and most recently, United Technologies. She was a thoughtful woman, always putting others before herself. Her life was devoted to her family. She loved them dearly and was involved in their daily lives. She will be lovingly missed and remembered.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica DeRaps and husband, John of Hartland; stepdaughter, Darcy Williams and husband, Marlin of Ohio; grandchildren, Trevor, Jacob, Garren, Simon and soon-to-be born, Taylor Lynn; father, Edison Edell and companion, Phyllis of North Anson; brother, David Edell and companion, Sandy Rock of Etna; sister, Rachel Wentworth and husband Larry of Canaan; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Wentworth of Hartland; and nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gary Wentworth; and her mother, Frances Edell.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Pine Grove Cemetery, in the new section, Route 152, in Hartland, with the Rev. Scott Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Gary. The family requests casual dress in honor of Rhonda. A gathering will follow the service and all are welcome.
The family extends a grateful thank you to the oncology doctors and nurses at Redington-Fairview General Hospital for their care and compassion.
