Obituary:

Burnham- Madeline L. Sedgwick, 92, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in Pittsfield.

 

She was born in Detroit, Maine, on July 12, 1917, the daughter of Burton and Frances (Robinson) Fogg.  She attended local schools and married Guy S. Sedgwick.  She was employed at L.L. Bean and then at the local area shoe shops for many years doing fancy shoe stitchery.

 

Madeline enjoyed being outdoors.  She was an avid fisherman and liked swimming, camping, traveling and working in her gardens.  She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano.  She belonged to the Pittsfield bowling league and was very active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dexter.

 

She is survived by her two daughters; Kathleen Clark and her husband, David, of Newport and Gloria Huff and her husband, Ralph, of Burnham; her son, Brenton Sedgwick and his wife, Diane, of Hendersonville, NC; her grandchildren; Ralph Huff, Jr and his wife, Darlene, Blaine Huff and his wife, Rachel, Gail Cropley and her husband, David, Andrew Bouley, Jr and his wife, Kathy, Fred Bouley and his wife, Cheryle, Robert Bouley and his fiancée, Sandra, Kathy Bane and her husband, William, Ann Elias and her husband, Dean, and Jani Meekma and her husband, Steve; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a special cousin, Effie Drake, and many extended family.

 

She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Guy Sedgwick and her brother, William Fogg.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm, Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield.  A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Brenton Sedgwick officiating.  A committal service will be held in the spring at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue in Pittsfield.

 

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be given to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital, 447 North Main Street, Pittsfield, Maine, 04967 or to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 103 Spring Street, Dexter, Maine, 04930, in Madeline’s memory.
