Pittsfield-Marilyn E. (Bennett) Merrill, 81, died peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2010, in Pittsfield. Betty was born in Presque Isle, Maine on December 27, 1928, the daughter of Ottis Stoddard and Laura Mae Smith. She was a homemaker for all of her life and had been a resident of the Pittsfield Community Home for the last 4 years. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and crafts. She is survived by her children; Linda, Kathy, Cynthia, Jeannie, Judy Frost and her husband, Dave, Mike Bennett who looked after mom for many years as only a loving son could, and his wife, Donna, Russell Bennett, Debbie Currier and her husband, Donald, Robert Bennett, Tina Murry, Shawn LaCasse and his wife, Jamie; her grandchildren, Desiree, Danielle, Jeffrey, Matthew, Jess, Heather, Ashley, Mikayla, Kierra, Korrie, Shawn II; great grandchildren, Hunter, Mercedes and Hailey, a special friend, Avon Roberts and a very special friend, who was like a sister, Donna Lovely. She was predeceased by her son, Richard J. Bennett, Jr., her late husband, Larry Merrill and their beloved dog, Missy, and a very special companion of 37 years, Henri LaCasse.
