Obituary for Diane Churchill

CORINTH-Diane Churchill, 54, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, February 28, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, in Bangor.

She was born on July 2, 1964, in Concord, Massachusetts, the daughter of Richard Harper and Lyn Sebesta. She graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1982, married her high school sweetheart, David Churchill, and together they raised their family.

Diane was a devoted wife, mother and homeschool teacher to her five children. She gave her full attention and had an intimate, unique relationship with each one of them. She made every day an opportunity for them to learn. She loved family trips and made each one memorable. Lily Bay, Peaks Kenny, Nesowadnehunk and Washington, D.C., these all hold special places in the family’s hearts. She loved U.S. History and visiting the Smithsonian and Air and Space Museum was a highlight for her. Being a member of the Charleston Church and taking a leadership role in Bible Quiz for 15 years was an important part of Diane’s life. She was also an active volunteer in the Sunday School program, the nursery and other children’s ministries. Welcoming her children’s friends into her home and making them feel like family was a joy to her heart. She was a wonderful homemaker and never wanted to waste time, money, food or any moment. Her memory will be treasured forever by all who loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, David Churchill of Corinth; five children: Beth, Kara, Luke, Mark and Tina; her mother and stepfather, Lyn and Jim Sebesta of Leesburg, VA; her father and stepmother, Richard and Margie Harper of Crystal River, FL; siblings: Russell Harper of Lakeview, AL, Jon Williams of North Conway, NH, Jennifer Comforth and husband John of Virginia Beach, VA and Jeanne Miller of Rutledge, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m., with funeral service at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the Charleston Church, Main Road, Charleston, with Rev. Matt Ward officiating. A gathering will follow. A committal service will take place in the spring at the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.
