Obituary for Earlene Robertson

PITTSFIELD- Earlene Robertson passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on April 28, 2020, with her son Norman and granddaughter LeeAnn by her side at Sanfield Nursing Home in Hartland.

She was born on October 18, 1946, in Ripley, Maine, the daughter of the late Earl and Ada (Rumery) Bryant. Growing up, Earlene enjoyed working in the hay fields and helping her parents with the animals on their family farms in Ripley and St. Albans, where they raised cows and horses. She graduated from Nokomis Regional High School in 1966 and enjoyed working for Dexter Shoe after graduation. Earlene enjoyed riding horses, a night out on the town with friends, dancing to country music, and having a good time. She was always the life of the party. Later in her life she worked many years at Somerset Laundry while she worked even harder raising her son Norman as a single mother. She then worked for the Pittsfield/ Burnham/ Detroit MSAD 53 school district as a crossing guard for 12 years until her retirement.

Earlene loved her family and friends, especially her granddaughter LeeAnn, who she spent most of her time with going to yard sales, eating red hot dogs at the Purple Cow, shopping, dancing to the Macarena, and getting their nails done together at the salon. Earlene was a very proud mother to her son, Norman, and a proud grandmother to her granddaughter, LeeAnn. She loved having pizza night with her family from Richie’s Pizza in Pittsfield, one of her favorite places to eat. She also enjoyed having cook-outs with her cousins: Cedric, Caroll, Frank, and their families. She enjoyed taking a stroll down memory lane with them and looking at old photos.

Earlene was a very well loved woman over the 30 years where she proudly lived at her apartment complex in Pittsfield Gardens. She enjoyed being with her neighbors and having cook-outs in the summer or shopping with them in the winter. She made many friends and was very close with her friend, Kathy and her family, who she considered as her sister and second family. She loved cats, collecting knick-knacks, making her famous peanut butter fudge, and having her hair permed. She was a spit fire, one of a kind woman, who was so strong and fought hard until the very end. She is loved by many and will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her son, Norman Robertson and wife Lisa of Pittsfield; grandson, Mitchell Merrill and husband Jeremiah of Newport; granddaughter, LeeAnn Lary and husband Justin; 3 Great Dane great-granddogs: Bernie, Penny, and Willow Lary; niece, Melissa Bryant; great-nephews: Ryan and Brandon McDougal of Hartland; nephew, Earl Bryant of Pittsfield; cousins: Cedric Bryant and wife Penny Patten-Bryant of St. Albans, Caroll Bryant and wife Rachel of St. Albans, and Frank Bryant and wife Ethelyn of Newport.

She was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Ada Bryant; brother, Clayton Bryant; and great granddog, Great Dane Lola Lary.

A celebration of life will be held this summer once the pandemic is over and friends and family can safely gather.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a flower in your garden in memory of Earlene, who also enjoyed planting flowers in her garden in front of her apartment every summer.
