Obituary for Edward F. Jordan

Edward F. Jordan, 69, passed away at home in Harmony, Maine, on Monday, October 15, 2018.

Born in Amesbury, Massachusetts, on March 4, 1949, he was one of two children of the late Edwin Jordan and Janice Trombla. Edward graduated from Haverhill High School in 1967. He went on to serve in the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-31) as a hull technician. He also served upon the USS Forrestal (CV-59) and went on to serve aboard YRBM-16 in Vietnam, part of the “Brown Water Navy”. Lastly, his final duty station was on the USS Fulton (AS-11), a submarine tender, in Groton, Connecticut. Afterwards, he served in the Navy Reserves. He was always proud to have had the privilege to serve his country. Edward was a life-long metalworker and specialized in sheet metal and welding. He worked at various companies along the Seacoast.

Edward loved to have a beer with fellow veterans at various organizations like the American Veterans Post 3, American Legion Post 19, and VFW Posts 9935 and 7865. He loved fishing and lobstering when his boat, FishStix, was out of Salisbury, Massachusetts. He was an avid reader and woodworker. Edward was a very generous person and loved to help those in need by driving them to medical appointments when they could not do so themselves. But most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Denise, of 44 years; his two sons and daughter, Jeremy of Annapolis, MD, Jesse, of Exeter, NH, and Katherine Rich of Lebanon, ME; and his sister, Judith Deshaies of Exeter, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kaily, Brianna, and William Rich of Lebanon, ME; Edward “Eddy” Jordan of Salisbury, MA; and Alice Jordan, of Exeter, NH.

His funeral service and internment will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 26, at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, Springvale, ME. It will be followed by a reception at the VFW Post 9935, 1 Hutchinson Street, Sanford, ME. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the VFW Post 9935.

The family wishes to thank the Veterans Affairs Administration and all other veterans’ organizations for their support and assistance throughout the years.
