Obituary for Frank I. Scott

ST. ALBANS-Frank I. Scott, 99, died peacefully on March 15, 2020, in St. Albans, with Jessie by his side.

Frank was born on January 3, 1921, in Bangor, Maine, the son of the late George and Mabel (Simpson) Scott. He graduated from Crosby High School and proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He held many jobs over his working career: an oil distributor, long haul truck driver, poultry farmer, manager of a transportation company, and even served as a tax collector and constable for the town of Morrill in the 1960’s.

Being fond of the great outdoors, he taught many to hunt and fish. He was a terrific guide and was often called upon to help find those who got lost in the woods. He was a terrific pilot and enjoyed teaching his wife, Virginia, how to fly.

Frank was a devoted member of the Hartland First Baptist Church. He took great pride in being an usher, even assisting from his wheelchair. He was on the church’s transport committee and enjoyed taking others to their appointments. He had a great love for his country and was an advocate for any veteran that needed help. He was a member of the Corinna American Legion, Post 73.

He is survived by his children: Robert Scott and wife Carolyn, and Barbara Scott; stepchildren: Rebecca, Francesia, Gren, Gaen, Raymond and Joli; a special granddaughter Autumn Colburn and husband Gerard; sisters: Ruth Diana and Louise Henley; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends: Jessie and husband Kevin, and Valerie.

He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife, Virginia; sister, Dorothy Mae Scott; and brother George W. Scott Jr.

A funeral service will be held in the spring at the Hartland First Baptist Church, Elm St, Hartland, with Pastor Tom Brown officiating. A committal with military honors will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Bangor.
