Obituary for Franklin D. Blanchard

WATERVILLE-Franklin D. Blanchard, 75, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018, in Augusta.

Franklin was born on May 8, 1943, in Troy, Maine, the son of Frank and Marion (Wyman) Blanchard. He owned a pig farm in Detroit, Maine, for many years and operated a slaughter house. He also owned and operated a rubbish removal service. He had a love for peppermint patties and ice cream. He enjoyed reading his Bible every night before going to bed.

He is survived by three children: Kevin Blanchard and wife Deborah of Concord, NH, Lisa Yarbrough and husband Michael of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Christina Barron and husband Anthony of Burnham; stepchildren: Karen Chase and husband Brian, Faye Dodge and husband Larry and William Wheeler Jr; six grandchildren: Shannon, Shawn, Taylor, Michael, Skyler and Lawrence; a sister, Dorothy Ames; and a special friend, Danny Mack of Detroit.

He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Alonzo Blanchard and Frank Blanchard.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A graveside service will be held in the spring of 2019, at the Village Cemetery, Route 220, Detroit, Maine.
