Obituary for John "Jack" Walsh

HARTLAND-John “Jack” C. Walsh, 85, died peacefully on June 6, 2020, at his home in Hartland.

Jack was born on May 23, 1935, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, the son of the late Charles and Veronica Walsh. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Jack was a true entrepreneur and business man, beginning at a young age owning an automobile repair garage and subsequent car dealership in Haverhill, MA to the owner of Competition Car Engineering where he raced a Ginetta G4 in the 1965 Sebring 12 hour. After moving to Maine, Jack continued to live life to the fullest where he owned and operated the Kennebunkport Marina and Maine Marine Engineering, owned and captained a tuna fishing boat and participated in many adventures on the sea. Throughout his life Jack loved working on cars, racing cars, tuna fishing, snowmobiling, and delivering a Datsun 240Z to the Boston Garden from his dealership for several years to be presented to the seventh player award recipient. He was very proud of his relationship with #41 George H. W. Bush who was a regular at the Kennebunkport Marina. One of his favorite memories was hopping on a snowmobile at the age of 71 and riding from the west coast of British Columbia all the way back to Maine! He led a fulfilling and adventurous life. “Look out God, he’s coming in hot!”

He is survived by his three loving children: Sean Walsh and companion Christie Snow of Blue Hill, Lauren Walsh and companion Brad Hunt of Livermore Falls, and Katie Walsh and companion Christian Dagley of Gloucester, MA; four special grandchildren: Iris Lohn, Allison Lohn, Sydney Walsh, and Grady Walsh.

He was predeceased by his two wives: Vera Moonyeen Walsh and Donna Roche Walsh; and a brother, Richard Walsh.

A celebration of his life will be held at Jack’s home on the lake in Hartland in the near future. The date will be shared with family and friends.

A private family committal will take place at the St. James Cemetery in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
