Obituary for Patricia F. Hubbard

HARTLAND-Patricia Faye Hubbard, 71, died on Monday, August 24, 2020, after a long period of failing health at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She passed comfortably and peacefully with family by her side. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the hospital for making Patricia’s passing as painless and comfortable as possible. Pat was born on July 19, 1949, in Island Falls, Maine, one of 7 children born to William and Arvella (Robbins) Jones.

Patricia was an energetic, optimistic, family and child-centered person her entire life. She was always giving of her heart and trying to help anyone in need. Pat and Chet loved to “adopt” younger children and their parents. She loved to play with children, often seeming to be one while doing so, no matter her age. She was never “too old” to enjoy games and activities if children were involved. Her greatest aspiration was to be a mother. A role she cherished and excelled at long after her own children were grown and left the nest.

When Patricia worked, she preferred to be a babysitter or a caretaker. Her jobs included working as a CNA for mentally challenged individuals as well as stints in nursing homes, caring for the elderly. Her last job was as a jewelry associate for Walmart, caring for customers.

Her love of family history and faith in the Mormon religion made her an active amateur genealogist. She loved to learn and tell the stories of our ancestors. She enjoyed taking trips to distant towns, prowling graveyards for clues and confirmations, talking to any relative, no matter how distant. She made it a point to introduce more distant members to the family and try to make them feel welcome. She could, and would, tell family stories for hours. Often, repeatedly. LOL.

She also enjoyed many crafting hobbies. Knitting, crocheting, cake decorating, fabric decoration with Artex paints as well as some sewing. She really loved to give these handmade gifts to people for the holidays. Often, she would donate her creations to one of the many community, family or school fundraisers that were always running due to Chet’s educational and coaching career.

Losing her daughter Kelly to breast cancer was devastating for her, but she immediately turned to caring for her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Christopher as much as possible. She never missed a chance to take Kaitlyn home with her or to be at one of Christopher’s games. Her coping mechanism for the grief was to redouble her efforts to spend time with family, especially after her husband Chet passed as well.

Pat leaves behind her son William Hubbard and his wife, Sabbatha of Norridgewock and their three sons Kenikki, Dallas and Trey Hutchinson; her son-in-law Chris Kelley of Morrill, grandson Christopher and granddaughter, Kaitlyn; sister-in-law Carlie Towle of Londonderry, NH; niece Lorreen Towle of Malden, MA; niece Carla and husband Steve Allen of Littleton, NH, niece Denise and husband Paul Davidson of Eastbrookeville, MA; niece Tressa and her husband Bob Tarbares of Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law Sue Hubbard of St. Albans; niece Alice Hewins of Hartland; niece Karla and husband Jaime Sisco of Hartland. She is also survived by her sister Glorine Jones of Palmyra; sister Hazel and her husband Bob Garofoli of Rockport; sister Eldora and her husband Winston Burns of Delaware; sister Charlene and her husband Dan McConkie of Utah; brother Charlie and wife Arlene Jones of Palmyra; brother Mike and wife Becky Jones of Newport; lifelong family friends, Rose, Lee and Hollee Hutchinson. She was predeceased by her parents William and Arvella Jones; husband, Chet Hubbard; and daughter, Kelly Marie (Hubbard) Kelley.
