She was born and raised in Hartland; the daughter of the late Leroy and Mary (Nichols) Whitten. She enjoyed time at Lincolnville Beach, which was her favorite place to go with Aubrey. Susan received many owl themed gifts over the years, which she collected. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family and doing word search puzzles.

She will be deeply missed by her three loving children their spouses and two granddaughters: her daughter Patty and her husband Jason Angel of Boston, Massachusetts; her son Leroy and his wife Stacia “Stacey” (McAnaney) of Milton, New Hampshire; her daughter Mary and her husband John Horton of Hartland with her two young granddaughters; Breeara “Bree” and Faith who will miss spending time playing basketball and laughing with their “Grammy.” She is also survived by her sister Barbara Morse, brother David and his wife Cheryl Whitten, her sister-in-law Mary, brothers-in-law Freddy, Oscar, Donnie, and Ervin, close family friends Jana and Roger Brown, Ruth (Withee) and her family, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Susan’s children would like to send a special thank you to the Estes family of Hartland for all of their help with snow plowing and lawn mowing over the years for their parents. Thanks to all the nurses and staff members at the Dialysis Clinic (DCI) of Skowhegan for their encouragement of Susan during her seven years of treatments and the caring KVCAP drivers who made sure that she got to treatment no matter the weather. The family is grateful to the staff and volunteers of Maine General Hospice for their care and compassion. The family appreciates the nurses and staff members at the Woodlawn Rehab in Skowhegan for their kindness and care given to Susan and her family this past month.
