Obituary for Homer Wayne Carr

OTIS-Homer Wayne Carr, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at his daughter’s home in Otis, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 24, 1931, in Great Works, Maine, a son of the late Ernest and Keziah Carr. He proudly served our country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He married his sweetheart Dody Davies and was blessed with 60 years of marriage.

Homer retired from BMHI after 36 years of employment. Spending time with his family and enjoying the water at Beech Hill Pond were some of his favorite moments. He was a big fan of the Old Town High School Boys Basketball Team and attended every game that he possibly could. He loved to watch the UMaine basketball and hockey games and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

Homer was a dedicated member of the Glad Tidings Church in Bangor. He served as a head and honorary usher for over 60 years and had also served two terms on the board. He and his wife faithfully helped in preparing and serving communion. They had a great love for their church family.

He is survived by his children: Karen Algee and husband Alan, Wayne Carr, and Jill Peters and husband Jody, all of Otis; granddaughter, Jenna Giguere and husband Vernon of Coventry, RI; soon to be born great-grandson, Grayson Grant Giguere; special niece, Beverly Valley and husband Gerard; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife, Dody; and 12 siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 6, at the Glad Tidings Church, 1033 Broadway, in Bangor. Military honors will be presented for his service to our country. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall and all are welcome. A committal will be held in the summer at Mount Hope Cemetery in Bangor, where he will be laid to rest along with his wife, Dody.
