Obituary for Robert A. Barry

PITTSFIELD-Robert A. Barry, 66, died on June 16, 2019, in Bangor.

Bob was born on February 21, 1953, in Milton, Massachusetts, a son of John and Grace (Everbeck) Barry. He graduated from Milton High School with the class of 1972 and proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He worked for several years as a supervisor for both the Prime and Irving Tannery and was thought of as a good supervisor and co-worker. His last occupation and favorite was working in the surgical trauma practice at EMMC as a certified medical assistant.

Bob was a kind, thoughtful, and witty man with a stubborn and competitive side. He cherished his family and loved to be at home, working in his gardens, doing yard work, wood carving, and reading. Bob was a huge Patriots fan! He was a great cook & grill master, enjoying baking and making home-cooked meals. He was a loving husband, brother, dad, and grandfather (Uncle Bob). Bob's love of reading started at a very early age. He was very knowledgeable on a variety of subjects especially history.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patty Barry of Pittsfield; his daughter, Kristie Paternoster and son-in-law Matt Wardwell of Pittsfield; two special grandchildren, Hannah and Joshua; his beloved Alaskan Malamute, Aniak; his sister, Grace Alexander and husband Ron of New Hampshire. Bob (Uncle Boppo) also had several nieces and nephews, John, Diane, Judy, Luke, and Claire.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, John Barry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2019, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, 238 Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield. A committal with military honors will immediately follow at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.
